Going Out for Valentine’s Day? Celebrate with Virginia Wine.

Seasonal

There are only a few more days until Valentine’s Day, so finding the perfect spot to wine and dine your sweetheart is of the utmost importance. Treat yourself and your favorite person to a thoughtful and locally-sourced dinner, and toast your love with a tasty glass of Virginia wine. Find our restaurant recommendations below!

Central Virginia

Shagbark

Chef & Owner Walter Bundy opened Shagbark in 2016 in the Libbie Mill area of Richmond. Focused on showcasing the bounty of Virginia, Shagbark highlights Virginia farmers, fishermen, artisans and winemakers. Their Wine Director, Rodney Rosser, carefully curates a wine list of over 300 offerings, including the largest selections of Virginia Wine in the city.

Maple & Pine

Located in Richmond’s vibrant downtown, Maple & Pine is situated in the beautiful Quirk Hotel. With a visually stunning Wes Anderson-style backdrop of pink colors, the vibrant atmosphere will put you in the perfect mood for dinner. Maple & Pine is led by executive chef David Dunlap, who has garnered attention and passion from local Richmonders, and their wine list features many celebrated Virginia wineries.

Northern Virginia

Field & Main

On Main Street in the charming town of Marshall, Field & Main was brought to life by renowned restaurateur, Neal Wavra and his wife Star. A longtime Virginia Wine aficionado, Neal is a master of pairing carefully selected dishes with the perfect nearby winery to ensure a dinner journey unlike any other

Red Fox Inn

Since 1728, The Red Fox Inn & Tavern has provided hospitality to Virginians. Classic touches of Virginia character adorn this beloved building while allowing for modern elegance at the same time. The Red Fox’s culinary team is dedicated to sourcing fresh, local ingredients and continually pay homage to their location in Virginia’s wine country with a rotating menu dedicated to its wine.

Hampton Roads

Amber Ox

Founded in 2017, Amber Ox welcomes its guests to an exceptional dining experience. Known in the area for their progressive approach toward cooking and their craft wine, beer, and cocktail experience, Amber Ox is sure to leave a lasting impression in your culinary diary. We love their commitment to featuring different Virginia wineries throughout the seasons.

Commune

Commune isn’t just farm-to-table — it’s their-farm-to-your-table. In 2017, their owner purchased 21 acres of what is now an all-natural, working and educational farm in Virginia Beach. Most of their growing happens on the farm now, but herbs and garnishes can be found right behind the restaurant in their 2,000 square foot garden. A restaurant this committed to sourcing locally understands the value of serving local wines alongside their offerings.

Virginia Mountains & Shenandoah Valley

River & Rail

Named one of the 13 Best Romantic Restaurants in Roanoke, River & Rail has taken the Roanoke and New River Valleys by storm. With a menu that changes daily based on the ingredients most recently sourced, Virginia wines are sure to pair well with the vegetables and herbs grown in the same soil.

The Shack

“The Shack started with a simple idea — to serve the highest quality food without pretense.” The Shack has lived up to this idea, under the watchful eye of Chef Ian Boden. A James Beard Semi-Finalist Best Chef Mid-Atlantic, Ian creates dishes that reflect the area’s forward trajectory while respecting its storied past; a shared attitude with the Virginia winemakers featured on The Shack’s wine list.
