Since 1728, The Red Fox Inn & Tavern has provided hospitality to Virginians. Classic touches of Virginia character adorn this beloved building while allowing for modern elegance at the same time. Commune isn’t just farm-to-table — it’s their-farm-to-your-table. In 2017, their owner purchased 21 acres of what is now an all-natural, working and educational farm in Virginia Beach. Most of their growing happens on the farm now, but herbs and garnishes can be found right behind the restaurant in their 2,000 square foot garden. A restaurant this committed to sourcing locally understands the value of serving local wines alongside their offerings.

A James Beard Semi-Finalist Best Chef Mid-Atlantic, Ian creates dishes that reflect the area’s forward trajectory while respecting its storied past; a shared attitude with the Virginia winemakers featured on The Shack’s wine list.
